Who we are
A major disaster can quickly overwhelm the capacity of local response organizations. Local residents and businesses need to take steps in advance to be prepared to face any emergency. Our Emergency Management Services Program provides disaster preparedness education throughout the community with a focus on vulnerable residents. We also assist our non-profit stakeholders with Continuity of Operations Planning.
When a disaster impacts our community, we collaborate with government and non-profit partners to match resources to un-met needs in an effort to assist residents achieve post disaster stability. We continually seek additional alliances to strengthen the outreach, education and services to or community.

What we do
The VPW Emergency Management Serivces serves Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park in managing volunteers and donations particularly in the recovery phase of a locally declared disaster.
Our Emergency Management Serivces Program:
- Provides emergency preparedness training - including how to be informed and creating disaster plans - to residents, community agencies and businesses.
- Assists in asset mapping for your group's volunteer base and assesses potential gaps in being able to meet your agency's needs.
- Supports outreach to vulnerable populations through a cadre of trained volunteers.
When a local disaster declaration is issued, we can operate as many as two Volunteer Reception Centers to ensure the safe and efficient use of affiliated and spontaneous volunteers.
Our donations management process is based on nationally accepted protocols and is supported by several non-profit organizations, including some members of National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster.
We are continually seeking volunteers to serve on an as-needed basis as well as actively recruiting for our non-profit partners who will play a role in disaster recovery. Please drop us an email if your church, club, or civic organization would like a presentation!
